What's Included

If you only require a small storage option then a toolshed could be just the thing. Our range starts from 3ft x 2ft and increases up to 6ft x 4ft. The height is not as tall as a standard shed and comes with a single sloping roof. This storage option is suitable for bbq’s, lawnmowers and the usual garden tools. We make sheds to any size or specification in our own workshop and so if you cannot find what you are looking for then please contact us on 0121 420 1521 to discuss your requirements. Free delivery and installation within 20 miles of our workshop.

Please note: Shelving is not included as standard. However, we can provide shelving upon request — please contact us to discuss your requirements, and it will be charged separately.

All our buildings will arrive untreated (except for the floor and roof) unless a full treatment option has been selected. If they are dip (water based) treated, once installed they will need treating as soon as possible with a solvent based preservative such as Cuprinol shed protector or Ronseal shed preserver. It is recommended that this is then done on an annual basis in order to protect the building from water ingress.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big should a tool shed be?

It depends on what you plan to store. For basic garden tools, a 3x2ft or 4x2ft shed is sufficient. If you need to store a lawnmower alongside tools and a BBQ, we’d recommend a 6x4ft or larger. Our team can advise on the best size for your needs.

Do I need planning permission for a tool shed?

Most garden sheds fall under permitted development rights in the UK, meaning no planning permission is required — provided the shed is under 2.5m in height, not in front of the principal elevation, and covers less than 50% of the garden area. Our tool sheds are compact enough to typically fall within these rules, but we recommend checking with your local council if you’re unsure.

What wood is used in Rutland Sheds tool sheds?

We use tongue & groove shiplap timber throughout — floors, walls, and roof. All timber is sourced from PEFC and FSC certified suppliers, ensuring responsible forestry. We recommend treating your shed with a quality preservative within 4 weeks of installation to extend its lifespan.

Can I add shelving to my tool shed?

Shelving is not included as standard but can be added on request. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and we can provide a separate quote.

What areas do you deliver to?

We’re based in Bearwood, Smethwick (B66 4AB) and offer free delivery and installation within 20 miles — covering Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Solihull, and surrounding areas. We also deliver nationwide; please contact us for a delivery quote outside the free zone.

All our buildings will arrive untreated (except for the floor and roof) unless a full treatment option has been selected. If they are dip (water based) treated, once installed they will need treating as soon as possible with a solvent based preservative such as Cuprinol shed protector or Ronseal shed preserver.
