Our contemporary summerhouses bring clean, modern design to your garden. With large glazed doors, straight roof lines and a choice of bespoke sizes, they’re designed to feel like a natural extension of your home rather than a traditional outbuilding. Every contemporary summerhouse is hand-built by our craftsmen at our Midlands workshop and delivered with free local installation.
Where a traditional summerhouse features decorative bargeboards and ornate details, the contemporary style keeps things simple and architectural. Floor-to-ceiling double doors flood the interior with light, making these buildings ideal as garden offices, creative studios, entertaining spaces or garden retreats.
Every contemporary summerhouse comes fully specified:
Unlike buildings sold in fixed sizes, we build every contemporary summerhouse to your exact dimensions. Whether your plot dictates an unusual width or you need extra depth to accommodate a garden office desk, we work to your measurements. Our most popular sizes start from 10ft x 8ft, but we regularly build larger and custom-shaped buildings.
Our experienced installation team handles the full erection of your building on a prepared base. Just check your postcode to confirm free delivery is available in your area, or call us to discuss delivery further afield.
Most garden summerhouses are covered by permitted development rights and don’t require planning permission, provided they’re not used as sleeping accommodation and meet size/height limits. We recommend checking gov.uk or with your local planning authority if you have any concerns, particularly on listed properties or in conservation areas.
Absolutely. Our contemporary summerhouses are a popular choice for garden offices. We’d recommend adding insulation and electrical installation (via your own electrician) to make it fully year-round usable.
Most contemporary summerhouses are installed in a single day by our two-person team, provided a suitable base is already in place. Larger or more complex buildings may take longer — we’ll advise at the time of quoting.
A flat, level concrete or paving slab base is ideal. The base should be the same footprint as the building or slightly larger. We don’t install bases ourselves but can advise on specifications.
Yes — door and window placement is part of the bespoke design process. We’ll discuss your preferred layout when you get your quote.
All our buildings will arrive untreated (except for the floor and roof) unless a full treatment option has been selected. If they are dip (water based) treated, once installed they will need treating as soon as possible with a solvent based preservative such as Cuprinol shed protector or Ronseal shed preserver. It is recommended that this is then done on an annual basis in order to protect the building from water ingress.
